Overview
What HardwareOS does and where each part runs.
What HardwareOS does
HardwareOS turns a description of a device into a project: a plan, a parts list taken from a hardware catalog, wiring against the board's pin map, firmware, and a build. Every board and part comes from the catalog, so pins, voltages, addresses and libraries are recorded facts and are not generated.
A project is made of source files and a project record. The record holds the plan, the selected hardware, the pin assignments and the conversation that produced them.
Where it runs
| Surface | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Workbench (browser) | Planning, wiring, firmware, cloud builds, and uploading to supported boards over USB from Chrome or Edge. |
| Desktop app | Local builds, flashing, serial monitoring, measurement, debugging and notes, with the toolchain on your computer. |
Projects saved to an account are available in both. Use Open in app in the workbench to continue a project in the desktop app.
